Patent Associate – Engineering (1–4 years)
Location: Multiple offices across the U.S. (including Los Angeles, San Diego, Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, and Washington, D.C.)

A leading international law firm is seeking a junior Patent Associate to join its highly regarded Intellectual Property practice, focusing on patent prosecution across a range of cutting-edge technologies.

This is an opportunity to work with innovative clients spanning high-growth startups through to established global companies, advising on the development and protection of complex patent portfolios. The practice is particularly strong in emerging technologies and offers exposure to sophisticated, forward-looking work.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a variety of technical fields
Advising clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and IP protection
Working closely with inventors, in-house counsel, and senior attorneys
Supporting on matters involving technologies such as AI/ML, engineering, and materials sciences

Requirements:

1–4 years’ patent prosecution experience within a law firm
Admission to the patent bar
Technical background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, AI/ML, or a related field
Advanced degree and/or prior patent agent experience preferred
Strong academic credentials and excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation:

$225,000 – $310,000, depending on experience, plus discretionary bonus
