Patent Associate – Engineering (1–4 years)
Location: Multiple offices across the U.S. (including Los Angeles, San Diego, Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, and Washington, D.C.)
A leading international law firm is seeking a junior Patent Associate to join its highly regarded Intellectual Property practice, focusing on patent prosecution across a range of cutting-edge technologies.
This is an opportunity to work with innovative clients spanning high-growth startups through to established global companies, advising on the development and protection of complex patent portfolios. Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a variety of technical fields
Advising clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and IP protection
Working closely with inventors, in-house counsel, and senior attorneys
Supporting on matters involving technologies such as AI/ML, engineering, and materials sciences
Requirements:
1–4 years’ patent prosecution experience within a law firm
Admission to the patent bar
Technical background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, AI/ML, or a related field
Advanced degree and/or prior patent agent experience preferred
Strong academic credentials and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Compensation:
$225,000 – $310,000, depending on experience, plus discretionary bonus
