Account Handler – Commercial Insurance

A well-established commercial insurance business is looking to appoint an experienced Account Handler to join its growing Commercial Lines team.
This is an opportunity for a technically capable broker to manage an established SME and commercial client portfolio, handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, insurer negotiations and client service across a broad range of covers.

About the Company
Our client is an established and FCA-regulated commercial insurance brokerage, supporting SME and commercial clients with tailored insurance solutions. The business prides itself on delivering high service standards, sound technical advice and positive client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage renewals and mid-term adjustments for SME and commercial clients
- Obtain accurate risk information, including turnover, wage roll, sums insured, claims experience and business activities
- Prepare high-quality insurer submissions and risk presentations
- Market risks, negotiate terms and present clear quotation comparisons to clients
- Arrange cover across Property Owners, Commercial Combined, Liability, Professional Indemnity, Contract Works and Motor Trade risks
- Review policy documentation, schedules and endorsements for accuracy
- Identify underinsurance, gaps in cover and cross-selling opportunities
- Support clients with claims notifications and queries, liaising with insurers and internal claims teams
- Maintain accurate records, diary notes and regulatory documentation on the broking system
- Ensure compliance with FCA requirements, Consumer Duty, GDPR and fair presentation obligations
About You
- At least 2–3 years’ commercial insurance broking experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial lines products, policy wordings and exclusions
- Experience handling products such as Property, Liability, Professional Indemnity, Commercial Combined, Contract Works and/or Motor Trade
- Confident dealing with insurers and negotiating terms
- Organised, detail-focused and able to manage a busy renewal cycle
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Acturis experience would be advantageous
- Cert CII qualified, or willing to work towards it
