About the Role
Fintelligent is partnering with a leading international law firm to recruit a Senior Associate into its highly regarded Competition, Regulation & Trade practice.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious competition lawyer to join a market-leading team with a particular focus on complex competition litigation and private enforcement matters. The successful candidate will work on some of the most significant competition disputes before the High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal, advising major multinational clients across a broad range of sectors within a collaborative and internationally integrated practice.
What You'll Do
- Advise clients on a broad range of contentious competition matters, including:
- Private enforcement claims
- Follow-on and standalone damages actions
- Collective proceedings before the Competition Appeal Tribunal
- Abuse of dominance disputes
- Cartel-related litigation
- Multi-jurisdictional competition claims
- Manage complex litigation matters with appropriate partner oversight.
- Assist in defending competition damages actions before the High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal.
- Coordinate and manage responses to multi-jurisdictional competition disputes.
- Provide strategic advice on competition litigation risk and interaction with regulatory investigations.
- Lead workstreams and supervise junior associates and trainees.
- Manage matter timelines, budgets and client expectations effectively.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and commercial advice.
- Contribute to business development, marketing initiatives and thought leadership activities.
- Support internal training programmes and mentor junior lawyers within the team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the firm's international network on cross-border matters.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional obligations and risk management procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Approximately 6–8 years' PQE, although candidates with more or less experience will be considered based on suitability.
- Strong competition law experience, with a particular focus on competition disputes and litigation.
- Demonstrable experience before the High Court and/or Competition Appeal Tribunal.
- Experience of collective actions and private enforcement litigation is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of UK and EU competition law principles and enforcement frameworks.
- Strong legal drafting, advocacy support, negotiation and project management skills.
- Ability to manage complex matters and multiple competing priorities effectively.
- Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers.
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to provide practical, strategic advice.
- Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of significant responsibilities.
- Strong academic credentials.
